Words That Hit Home

By Christo De Beer

I recently have had a lot of time on my hands and it is really something to be stuck in your own mind, so I started watching one of my favorite series TV series, Brothers and Sisters, from the start and I have to compliment the writers as they often used words that hit home for me.

I find it really interesting that a show can relate so closely to real life, the drama we are all faced with, the backstabbing by friends (or those who call friends), how we learn who to trust and who to believe in and were we can hide if things get bad.

In the last couple of months I’ve seen how cruel and also how beautiful life can be at the exact same time.

One of the most memorable moments in the show happens between Kevin (the gay brother) and Jason (his then boyfriend). Jason is called on a mission to Malaysia (yes hold on to your pants, he is a church minister AND gay) and Kevin is hurt and scared. In the scene Jason says “I don’t expect you to wait for me “and Kevin replies... “what am I suppose to do, I love you”.

The words are so simple but have such an impact it’s what most of us are searching for. True its only fiction but for someone to say that is what it’s all about for me.

There are countless examples of words that hit home on TV, but in reality nothing is ever that simple. Finding someone to say those words to should be our main goal when looking for relationship material and not just someone to keep our beds warm tonight.
